Contest Rules and Regulations

  1. Contest start: NOON (ET), June 1, 2009. Closing date: NOON (ET), Sept 1, 2009.

  3. To be eligible: Limit of one (1) online entry per person accepted. Entries must be submitted online no later than the NOON (E.T.) on September 1, 2009. On-line entry only accepted. No mail-in entries accepted. The contest is open to all residents of Canada, of the age of majority on the date of entry according to the law of the province or territory in which they reside. The Contest is not open to employees, representatives and agents of The Beef Information Centre or the Onward Manufacturing Company, or H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd., their affiliates, their advertising and promotional agencies or to any person with whom any of the foregoing are domiciled.

  4. The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and Onward Manufacturing Company will not be responsible for entries or requests that are late, lost, destroyed, wrongly addressed or not received by the Contest Closing Date for whatever reason. By entering the contest all entrants agree to abide by the Official Rules of the Contest and the decisions of the judges, which are final. Entries become the sole property of The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and Onward Manufacturing Company and will not be returned.

  5. Prizes: There will be one (1) grand prize. The grand prize consists of a Broil King Signet 90 propane gas grill. Retail cost of the grand prize is approximately $499.00. There will be five (5) secondary prizes of one (1) EACH Grillpro Wireless Thermometers. Retail cost of each secondary prize is approximately $45.99. Limit of one (1) prize per person or household. The awarding of the prizes is conditional on the winner having reached the age of majority on the date of entry according to the law of the province or territory in which they reside. All taxes will be the responsibility of the Contest Sponsors. Prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, non refundable, have no cash surrender value and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions. Contest Sponsors reserve the rights, at their sole discretion, to substitute the prize(s) awarded with (a) prize(s) of equivalent or greater value for any reason, including, but not limited to: production delays caused by labor disruptions, part shortages, adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen events; end of model year availability; and for any other reasons.

  6. Draw: A random draw for all prizes will be made 7 days after the closing date (Sept 8, 2009), from among all eligible entries received on or before the Contest Closing Date. Selected entrant will be contacted by email within ten (10) days of the draw date. In the event that the The Beef Information Centre/H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd./Onward Manufacturing Company is unable to notify a selected participant within a reasonable time (14 days), a new participant will be selected. In order to win, the selected entrant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by email. Winners will be required to sign a standard declaration and release form confirming compliance with the Contest rules and acceptance of the prize as awarded. No substitution for, or transfer of any prize or portion of a prize, will be allowed except at sponsor’s option. All prizes will be delivered only to the confirmed winners. The winners will be selected by a random draw. Chances of winning are solely dependent on the total number of eligible entries received.

  7. The Sponsors reserve the right, to terminate or to amend this contest at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as originally planned, such as tampering or infection by computer virus, the Sponsor, reserves the right to cancel the online portion of the contest and conduct the draw from all other previously received online eligible entries. This contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws.

    Quebec Residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Regie des alcohols, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Regie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

  8. All decisions are final. The chances of winning depend upon the total number of eligible entries received through the internet. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. The Prizes must be accepted on an “as is” basis and that there is no substitution of prizes.

    WINNERS LIST: For winners list, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Beef Information Centre, Make it Beef Sweepstakes, 2000 Argentia Road, Plaza 4, Suite 101, Mississauga, ON L5N 1W1, before September 30, 2009.

  9. All entries become the property of The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and the Onward Manufacturing Company. Entrants by entering this Contest, consent to the use of their name and/or photograph, without compensation, in any future publicity carried out by The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd.and the Onward Manufacturing Company in connection with this Contest.

  10. The winner will be required to sign a declaration and release, releasing The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and the Onward Manufacturing Company and their advertising and promotional agencies, from all liabilities in connection with the awarding and use of the prize, in order to be awarded the prize.

  11. The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and the Onward Manufacturing Company respects your right to privacy. Information provided will not be disclosed to third parties. We will only use the personal contact information you provide for the purposes of the Contest and to deliver promotional opportunities about The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and the Onward Manufacturing Company. Your Personal information will not be sold or traded with any person, or company for any reason without your consent.

  12. Liability: Contest Sponsors, their directors, officers, partners, dealers and employees shall not be responsible for: any injuries, loss or damages of any kind (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) with respect to, or in any way arising from, this contest or the Prizes awarded. Entry materials that have been tampered with, reproduced, falsified or altered are void. Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of laws and may be subject to remedies and damages, including criminal prosecution.

  13. In the event of a dispute regarding submission of an on-line entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the authorized holder of the e-mail account. The authorized e-mail account holder is the individual who is assigned to the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the e-mail address. The selected entrant may be required to provide the Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and/or Onward Manufacturing Company with proof that he or she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. No responsibility will be taken for any failure of the web site during the promotion or for any problems or technical malfunction or Internet entry not received by the Beef Information Centre, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the contest. The Beef Information Centre and H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and Onward Manufacturing Company reserves the right, in its sole discretion; to cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of The Beef Information Centre, corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, The Beef Information Centre, H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. and Onward Manufacturing Company reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are altered or tampered with in any way.
